And the fun continues. Saturday, August 23, at 1:00, I will be signing books at Dolly’s Bookstore at 510 Main Street, in Park City. If you haven’t bought my book yet it will be worth a fun trip to Park City for lunch and window shopping. There will be books available to purchase.
Thirty-nine years ago I was president of the League of Utah Writers, 1986, the year of Halley’s Comet. This past weekend I attended my first League’s Writers Conference in probably that many years. Back then we called it the Roundup. Now it’s called Quills.
I had so much fun! I made some friends, I attended classes taught by agents, editors, and successful writers. I took pages of notes of new things that I learned.
I had the opportunity to have a “live pitch" (tune in next time and I’ll explain what that means) with an agent/editor from Denver, which turned out to be successful. That was the first big excitement, other than the excitement of just being there. The other was when my name was announced as the Gold Quill winner in the published novel category of the annual contest, for my book, The Secret of Surviving In The Sea. Gold Quill is equivalent to 2nd place.
It was a fantastic weekend. I am enjoying the writer’s life!
I had so much fun at the Book Fair, July 26, at the Monarch in Ogden. My assistant (my daughter) decorated my table and took money and bagged books as people bought them. My other assistant, (my son) printed up reviews people had so kindly written. I engaged with people who wanted to know about me, and about my book, and signed the purchased copies. It was a wonderful way to spend my Saturday.
